Why good attendance is important
At Merit we know that good attendance is essential to academic success. Good attendance is 96% or above. Of students who miss less than 5% of school, 73 percent achieve 5 A*- C GCSEs including English and Maths. This means students with a higher % attendance will achieve higher overall GCSE grades.
Reporting Absence
If your child is unable to attend school you need to inform school by 9.30 am. You can do this by calling the school office on 01782 928980.
Medical Evidence
We understand that students at Merit have medical needs that may mean they have a higher % of absence than students in mainstream schools. To enable us to authorise absence we need you to provide us with medical evidence, for example an appointment card or hospital letter.
Unauthorised absences are monitored using our Attendance Flow Chart.
