SEND Travel Assistance

From Reception to Year 10 - Register an account and complete the SEND travel application form to ensure travel assistance for September

Important information and action required for all parents/carers of children of statutory school age (Year groups Reception through to Year 10) who currently receive SEND travel assistance – either those who receive transport or a Personal Transport Budget (PTB).

The Council has recently moved to using a new Citizen Portal, which will hold all the information for children/young people in receipt of SEND travel assistance. The new Citizen Portal will allow us to ensure we have the most up to date information, improve our route planning and communications with parents/carers.

For the Council to organise PTBs and transport routes for the new academic year (September 2025), we require ALL parents/carers to submit a new application for SEND home to school travel assistance. Please note that your application will be accepted and we will not be re-assessing your child’s eligibility for travel assistance. We have written to all parents/carers so please look out for a letter in the post. In order to ensure travel assistance is in place for September, these applications will need to be completed by 25 July 2025.

You can register for an account and complete your application for SEND travel assistance on the Council’s website by following the link or scanning the QR code found below. Some parents may already have registered an account when previously applying for school places with the Council.

We ask you please to make sure you have an account registered and then apply for SEND travel assistance by clicking the ‘Transport’ button by 25 July 2025 to ensure travel assistance (PTB or transport) is in place for September.

Year 11 and Post 16 Applications

Please can we remind the parents/carers of young people in Year 11 or Post 16 provision that you must apply for SEND Travel Assistance for the 25-26 academic year. If you have not done so, please apply as a matter of urgency via the links above.

The SEND transport team are now looking at our transport arrangements for Post 16 provision in preparation for September 2025. Parents/carers of young people in Post 16 provision (currently receiving SEND travel assistance) should already have received a letter and 65% have already applied. This is wonderful – a huge thank you to everyone who has already done this!

If you haven’t had your young person’s EHCP review yet and placement has not been confirmed, please do not worry. If you phone or email us via the contact details below, we will make a note that you may still require SEND travel assistance.
