Dear Parents and Carers
The new 2020/21 Academic Year
The school year has now come to an end, and what a year it has been! A year that has thrown up challenges we could never have predicted but also one where we have adapted and, with your help and support, found a way to navigate the difficulties caused by Covid 19. We would like to thank you for working with us and supporting your child with their learning at home, we couldn’t have done it without you.
We are very much looking forward to getting back to normal in September and, assuming nothing changes with the virus, we will be welcoming back all our students on Thursday 4th September.
Children are able to wear their own clothes on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th of September. The school office will be open for the purchase and collection of new school uniform on these dates and we will expect all students in uniform from Monday 8th September. You will need to order and pay for uniform through Parent Pay before it can be collected.
Hot schools meals will resume at Merit on Monday 8th September. This means that your child will need to bring a packed lunch on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th September. If your child is in receipt of free school meals and you would like Merit to provide a packed lunch please can you let Kira in the office know no later than Tuesday 2nd September email@example.com.
We will arrange taxis for the later school start time of 9.30 am on Thursday 4th September. School will start at the usual time of 8.30 am on Friday 5th September and finish at 2.45 pm.
We understand that your child may well be anxious about returning to school after the holidays but we would like to reassure you that we will be doing everything we can to help them settle back safely into school. We will ensure all our students get the therapeutic support they need to help them reengage with school and move forward with their learning.
Thank you for your ongoing support. Please feel free to get in touch if you have anything further you would like to discuss. Merit staff will be in school from Tuesday 2nd September and available to answer any queries by phone or email.
We would like to wish you and your family a safe, relaxing and enjoyable summer holiday.
Mrs M James
