Week 15 - Monday 13th July

Hi KS3,

Hope you are all doing well? We've made it to the last week of term! :)

Please make sure that any work you have completed over the past few months has been sent to me at: amellor@meritpur-stoke.org.uk by the end of the week please.

Your work for this week will be your choice! I would like you to choose one or two of the activities on the Word document below and complete those tasks as your final English task for this school year. These activities have been designed to prepare you for your studies next year.

I will also be uploading a Summer English Booklet for you this week. This will have lots of different reading, writing and technical skills activities to complete. I'd like you to dip in and out of this and complete some of the tasks before we return in September please - this will just help you to keep developing those English skills over the holidays. This will be on the website by Wednesday 15th July, please make sure you come back and have a look!

I hope you all have a very safe and enjoyable summer holidays. I can't wait to see you all in September at Merit.

Enjoy!

Mrs M

Week 13 - Monday 29th June

Hi KS3

Hope you are all well and have enjoyed the weekend.

Thank you to those who have sent work in this week. You have been doing really well with the reading and understanding of Non-Fiction texts. I would like you to work on writing your own Non-Fiction texts this week. I have attached a Word document that explains your three tasks for this week and the accompanying worksheets. You will be working on building your own argument, sharing your opinion about one of a choice of three topics. I would like you to spend time making sure that your work is of a high standard, clearly explains your viewpoint and uses a range of techniques to engage your reader. Remember to check your spelling, punctuation and grammar - perhaps read out your argument to a family member to help you.

Please e-mail me if you are unsure or need any support with the tasks this week.

Have a good week!

Mrs M

If you are having trouble then please let me know.

Week 9 - Monday 1st June

Hi KS3

Hope you had a nice half-term and are ready to get going again this week!

This week I would like you to either complete the reading activity OR continue with the Kraznir project - the next set of PPT slides are below.

Over the next few weeks we will begin to work on Non-Fiction texts to help the transition of those moving into Year 10 in September and to develop the skills in this area for those moving into Year 9. However, this week I would like to stick with fiction and finalise Kraznir projects or continue to work on similar skills in the activity attached.

Please let me know if you need any support or would like me to take a look at anything.
