Target Setting

Students’ targets are based on CAT (Cognitive Ability Tests) taken on entry to Merit. We also use KS2 data, if available.

Each student has an end of key stage target in every subject. From this we can predict a

trajectory of academic progress. This is tracked and monitored by the data manager and all subject teachers through six “assessment points” in an academic year.

Any student who is identified as underachieving at an assessment point will have an individualised plan created by the subject teacher in partnership with the TAs, the students themselves and wherever appropriate, the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator. This is reviewed half termly.

We believe that all students should be at the heart of assessment.
